Hi Kate, just wanted to let you know how Ryan is doing following his 3 craniosacral sessions. The biggest change in Ryan is that he is so much calmer in himself. The level of relaxation he achieves within the sessions is maintained from one treatment to the next. We have all noticed how Ryan really wants to interact with us and talk to us about his feelings, which is really unusual for him. Instead of being so frustrated and angry all of the time, he is able to verbalise some of the reasons why he is upset and angry. He is able to talk about feeling different because he has Aspergers syndrome saying he feels like a “freak” around his peers and desperately wants to feel normal. We’ve all noticed in the family how much better Ryan’s eye contact is when he talks to us. Personally I can’t explain how lovely it is for him to sit with me and watch TV together. As I have explained to you already Ryan was always happier in his own company and tended to sit separately from us. It feels really healthy that he is more able to express his feelings rather than retreat into silence or be explosively angry which was his normal behaviour pattern.
I feel the Craniosacral Therapy offers him a non-threatening interaction with you where there are no real expectations of him to perform or achieve goals. Your gentle, calm, intuitive presence plays a big part in how effective the treatment is for Ryan. As a family we will always be grateful we met you because you have helped our autistic son with his emotional struggles and helped him to be more accepting of who he is in a way that we were unable to. Ryan continues to say his treatments with you are “good”, which is a compliment to you and the treatment he receives. We look forward to seeing you soon.
